India's COVID-19 tally crosses 90 lakh after 45,882 more infections in a day, toll above 1.32 lakh

New Delhi: India's COVID-19 caseload crossed 90 lakh on Friday after 45,882 more infections were registered in the past 24 hours, said the Union health ministry.

With 84.28 lakh patients being cured, the national recovery rate climbed to 93.6 percent, the data updated at 8 am showed.

The total number of coronavirus cases mounted to 90,04,365 and the toll climbed to 1,32,162 with the virus claiming 584 lives in a span of 24 hours in the country.

The COVID-19 case fatality rate has further declined to 1.46 percent.

There are 4,43,794 active cases of coronavirus infection in the country which comprises 4.92 percent of the total caseload, the data stated.

According to the ICMR, a cumulative total of 12,95,91,786 samples have been tested up to 20 November with 10,83,397 samples being tested on Thursday alone.

India's COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on 7 August, 30 lakh on 23 August and 40 lakh on 5 September. It went past 50 lakh on 16 September, 60 lakh on 28 September, 70 lakh on 11 October and crossed 80 lakh on 29 October.
